Soraken Industrial Development Corporation Limited (SIDCL) is the developer behind the Soraken Green Blue Integrated Fusion Hub, proposed as Bougainville's inaugural Comprehensive Special Economic Zone and the anchor project of the Bougainville Economic Corridor.
Our Vision
Special Economic Zones are powerful economic drivers, capable of attracting investment, creating jobs and growing Bougainville's economy. There is real opportunity to establish a number of specialised SEZs across the island, each built around the strengths of its own region.
Soraken, however, is being developed with a different vision: an Integrated Green and Blue Economic Hub, fully aligned with the Autonomous Bougainville Government's Green Blue Policy, and built to prove that economic growth and environmental stewardship can advance together. SIDCL's vision is to establish Papua New Guinea's premier Blue-Green Comprehensive Special Economic Zone, a northern gateway between Papua New Guinea, the Pacific Islands and Asia, and a long-term engine for Bougainville's economic transformation.
A Hub Built Around Conservation
The Soraken development is closely linked to the Kunua Conservation Corridor, stretching from Taiof Island to Atsinima and Torokina. The corridor is fully managed by Dr Junior Novera, with support from Dr Noro of Kainake Conservation in Motunahuyono (MTH), and protects Bougainville's forests, wildlife and marine ecosystems.
Just as importantly, it preserves the region's rich cultural heritage, including the UPE and the customs, knowledge and traditions that have shaped its people for generations. For SIDCL, safeguarding this heritage sits alongside safeguarding the environment, as a condition of how Soraken is developed, not an afterthought to it.
